Eagles shoot Doug Pederson: The rumblings of planes are overrated

The Jets’ search for a new coach got a sexy pucker on Monday.

The Eagles fired coach Doug PedersonWhich led to immediate speculation by fans and the media that the planes might be interested in him. Connecting is easy. Jets General Manager Joe Douglas worked in Philadelphia with Pederson from 2016 to 2019 and the two won the Super Bowl together in 2017.

Douglas has spoken largely of Pederson publicly, but there is nothing more than speculation at the moment that Douglas will be interested in appointing Pederson. The Jets completed interviews with Titans attack coordinator Arthur Smith and Saints high school coach Aaron Glynn on Monday. This brings the total to nine known candidates who have been interviewed.

The planes embarked on an extensive search She continued through. They interviewed experienced candidates on both sides of the ball. They only interviewed one candidate with previous training experience – Marvin Lewis.

The belief that planes will jump at the opportunity to hire Pederson is incorrect. This does not mean that he will not be a candidate. They can meet him and eventually hire him. But it is no match for Pederson to be the next Gates coach, as some say. Just because Douglas and Pederson worked so closely together doesn’t mean Douglas wants him as his coach.

There have been many reports that Douglas and Pederson have a strong relationship, and Douglas praised Pederson on the Adam Shifter podcast in 2019.

Douglas said, “The way Doug handled his first year.” “We started 3-0, things were looking great, we lost some players, hit some potholes along the way, we finished season 7-9 and the way he attacked that out of season and how he was able to unite the team with his message. And what kind of person he is, He is real and original from someone as you will ever meet him. He is a man who says what he means, means what he says, and the players believe in him and have an aggressive mindset, so I love the way he is managing the team. “

The 52-year-old Pederson is a better known entity than most coaches Gates has interviewed. He went 42-37-1 in five years with the Eagles and 4–2 in playoffs, including the team’s only victory in the Super Bowl after the 2017 season.

The Eagles have come to the bottom of the season, going 4–11-1, quarterback Carson Wentz’s having a bad year. The Eagle Ownership reportedly had concerns about the direction of the crime and Pederson’s vision of the future, particularly with his staff. The feud between Wentz and Pederson and the belief that the two could no longer coexist has also been reported. Pederson ended the season with one of the most curious coaching decisions in memory, leading midfielder Galen Hortes against Washington when the match was still within reach of Nate Sudfield. It seemed that Pederson was trying to lose the match on purpose, which angered many, including some of his players, many fans of the giants and their coach, Joe Judge.

The Jets might be reluctant to hire a trainer who was just fired as well. They did it a couple of years ago with Adam Gase and the fan reaction was pretty negative. The Jets shouldn’t have been busy visualizing this hiring, but maybe after the last couple of years’ experience with just how unpopular Gase is.

The opening of Eagles now means there are seven NFL teams with a vacant coach position. The aircraft are not known to have conducted any other scheduled interviews. It looks like they will now regroup and decide whether to add more candidates, including Pedersen, or invite coaches for a second interview. The first round of interviews was conducted remotely. It is believed that the Jets will bring some of the finalists to face-to-face interviews at Florham Park, but the coaches in the teams still alive in the qualifying rounds cannot conduct in-person interviews yet.
